JC&Company visited Seoul and held a legal seminar for Korean startups who are participating in Nomad program by Venturesquare.
‘Startup Nomad’ is a three month long global accelerator program organized by The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and The National IT Industry Promotion Agency, and hosted by VentureSquare. The Startup Nomad teams plan to leave in early November for Silicon Valley to participate in an acceleration program. Each team will undergo intensive mentoring and coaching to equip them with the tools to enter the global market. There will also be an opportunity to showcase the startup to local investors in the USA, and upon return to Korea, a Demo Day will be held.
To share the insights JC&Company gained through helping a number Korean startups making their transition to the American market, we visited Venturesquare office on August 11st. The lecture focused on three of the most important legal aspects a startup should consider before entering the U.S. market; establishing a proper visa status for key employees; choosing the right business entity to receive more funding; and utilizing available tax credits and other government grant programs for startups. The seminar was followed by one-on-one consulting sessions where attendees had a chance to discuss their legal concerns.
The selected Nomad team will visit Silicon Valley in October to continue their training. We look forward to seeing them there again and helping them make a further step to build a business in U.S.
